Why does America build houses with wood? Isn't it cold in winter?

Houses in America are rarely made of wood. They are all made of brick or cement, because one is strong and the other is low in cost. Only some villas are made of wood, but very few.

However, even brick houses are still vulnerable to tornadoes, especially in Texas, which is a tornado-prone area, which is related to its geographical location. You can watch more popular science programs, all of which are about the reasons why there are many tornadoes in the United States, so I won't go into details here.
