Experience sharing in applying for the University of Hong Kong.

With the arrival of the upsurge of studying in Hong Kong, more and more mainland students take part in the written test and interview of HKU. The following are the experiences of mainland students who have successfully applied, hoping to help students who are interested in applying for HKU.

Registration: I learned the news from the Internet.

Almost all students read the enrollment information of Hong Kong universities in newspapers and online. In March, I began to prepare. Go to the website to see the specific enrollment information, call the major schools for consultation, download the registration form, go to the school's academic affairs office to open the score certificate, fill in the form, publish it, and then wait for the notice. Go to NTU for a written interview in June.

Written test: it's different from the college entrance examination, and it feels like IELTS.

The students say that the written test is not difficult to deal with. Seven students who went to Changzhou No.1 Middle School to take the exam all passed. The examination paper is in English and is divided into three parts. The first part is reading multiple-choice questions, the second part is reading to fill in the blanks, and the third part is writing a 500-word composition. Dang Hao of Changzhou No.1 Middle School said that unlike the college entrance examination, the college entrance examination consists of five small readings, while the written examination has only one big reading, which feels similar to IELTS. The composition requires demonstrating the views in the article and talking about your own views.

Interview: Be confident and decent, and pay attention to details is the most important.

The interview with HKU was in the form of group discussion, with six or seven people at a time, presided over by HKU professors, all in English. The process of the interview is to introduce yourself first, and then proceed? Leaderless topic discussion? The topics are very casual, ranging from profound issues such as new rural construction and aging to relaxing and interesting topics such as the World Cup and whether Shanghai will build a Disney. They need to accumulate more in peacetime and test the students' on-the-spot reaction.

Party Hao said that the key is to pay attention to details and strive for the initiative in conversation. We should not be modest, but we should not be too sharp. At the end of the interview, others got up and left, but Dang Hao set the chairs one by one, and the interviewer specially talked with Dang Hao, which undoubtedly won him an impression.

Feng Ruyun agrees, it is impolite to interrupt others' conversation. Learn to listen, respect other people's opinions, agree or disagree. Some people are always rushing to talk, but their views are not mature. When it comes to being caught in the middle, they are sure to suffer. She kindly told reporters that you must ask the examiner why I was recorded. I think because I look confident and have strong expressive and logical skills, my speeches are basically itemized and good at summarizing.

Admission: Grades are not the only consideration.

It's hard to say whether it is difficult to get into Hong Kong University. HKU doesn't decide whether to admit students through written examination or interview, but comprehensively considers the comprehensive quality score of the interview and the results of the college entrance examination, plus students' resumes, such as activities, competitions and personal specialties participated in high school, which are screened and accepted by the HKU Admissions Committee, similar to the process of local enrollment in Hong Kong. Most of the students admitted to Changzhou are superior in comprehensive quality. Song Mengqiong, a senior high school in Changzhou, has won many gold and silver prizes in the National Youth Informatics Olympic Competition, and has also won numerous awards in various scientific and technological innovations and literary competitions.
