Southwest Bell Company is one of seven regional Bell operating companies. It was created by AT&T Company 1983, and the original AT&T company broke down. Therefore, it sued AT&T in the United States for antitrust litigation. The company changed its name to SBC Communication Company on 1995. After the acquisition of AT&T Company in 2005, its original parent company was AT&T Company. The newly merged company bears the iconic AT&T logo and stock trading code (NYSE: T, meaning "telephone").
