Company renaming and brand unification
Due to the long-term discovery that "one company has multiple brand names" has affected the global market share of the group's products, the Japanese abbreviation of the company was changed from "Matsushita Electric Co., Ltd." to the pen name "パソニッッ" in June 2008. The Japanese full name of the company was also changed from Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. to パナソニック Co., Ltd. ..
At the same time, the "National" trademark still in use in Japan was gradually abolished in 2009, when the "Panasonic" brand and trademark will be used worldwide.
Since all Panasonic products outside Japan and Greater China were sold under the Panasonic brand as early as 2003, Quasar brand, which is still used in the low-cost audio-visual equipment market in North America, was naturally eliminated, and "National", which is still used in Japan after the company changed its name, was also discontinued in 2009.
