Is there a limit on the size of luggage in Hong Kong Metro?

Hong Kong Metro has restrictions on the size of luggage, as follows:

Unless specifically authorized in writing by the MTR Corporation, each passenger on a city line train can only carry one piece of luggage with a total length, width and height not exceeding 170cm and a length not exceeding 130cm on either side.

However, passengers holding valid MTRCL Permit for Carrying Larger Musical Instruments or MTRCL Permit for Carrying Larger Musical Instruments and Sporting Goods can carry musical instruments or sporting goods with a total length, width and height of no more than 235 cm and a length of no more than 145 cm on either side under the terms and conditions of the permit.

Precautions for carrying luggage in Hong Kong Metro:

1. Passengers can combine several small pieces of luggage into one luggage. ?

2. The longest dimension shall prevail. All dimensions measured by MTR personnel will be final and binding. ?

3. The dimensions of luggage carts, trolleys or similar vehicles carrying luggage are calculated by the sum of luggage dimensions. ?
