A: Because Antarctica is related to the future of mankind and the major interests of all countries, the competition for Antarctic interests is fierce. Professor Knox, chairman of the International Scientific Committee for Antarctic Exploration, said, "We are approaching an economic interest, and then political interests dominate all activities in Antarctica." It is reported that from the perspective of scientific research value and polar discourse power, there are four competing points in Antarctic * * *: pole, freezing point, magnetic point and high point. In the first three locations, the United States, France and the former Soviet Union all set up scientific research stations there. Now there is only one high point, that is, DomeA "blank". Because of the special significance of DomeA, some countries have planned to visit DomeA.
The expedition to Kunlun of Antarctic ice sheet basically follows the route of 15 Antarctic expedition. Its core task is to make preliminary preparations for the construction of the third research station in China, and to establish a complete climate and environment monitoring system from Zhongshan Station to DomeA Glaciology Profile through investigation, so as to fully complete the investigation task from Zhongshan Station to DomeA Profile undertaken by China in the international plan to cross the Antarctic. The Antarctic ice sheet Kunlun expedition team will also learn about the living conditions of people in polar high-altitude areas, and prepare for the wintering investigation after the construction of the Ice Dome A station.
March towards a powerful country in polar scientific research.
From 1984 to 1990, China established the Great Wall Station and Zhongshan Station in Antarctica, gained the status of a negotiating country of the Antarctic Treaty, and won China's legitimate rights and interests in Antarctic affairs.
From 199 1 to 1995, the "Eighth Five-Year Plan for Antarctic Scientific Investigation in China" was implemented, and the transformation from station building to scientific investigation was initially realized.
1996-2000, the Ninth Five-Year Plan was implemented with "Antarctic feedback and response to global change" as the main scientific research goal.
From 2000 to 2005, the business support system and scientific research platform of "One Ship" (Snow Dragon Polar Scientific Research Ship), "Three Stations" (Antarctic Great Wall Station, Zhongshan Station and Arctic Yellow River Station) and "One Center" (China Polar Research Institute) were formed, and two expeditions to the Arctic and five expeditions to the Antarctic inland ice sheet were organized, successfully reaching the highest point of the Antarctic inland ice sheet, which attracted the attention of global scientific and technological circles.
At present, the Tenth Five-Year Plan for China's polar exploration is being implemented, the overhaul of the research ship "Snow Dragon" has been successfully completed, and the renovation of the Great Wall Station and Zhongshan Station will be kicked off this year, which will greatly enhance China's polar scientific exploration ability and rapidly improve China's polar scientific research level.
