Interview experience
-experiencing the news scene is a kind of happiness.
Chance and inevitability in life
Life has a strange trajectory, left or right, whether it happens or not, full of accidents.
Nine years ago, I never thought I would be a reporter in the future. I know nothing about it. At that time, I was a senior in the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of Beihang University. Like other students, I spent almost every day in computer programs, and I didn't even take Chinese classes in college.
As an outstanding student cadre, I am expected to stay in school to continue my studies. But one day, a little accident changed everything. Accidentally stepped into a room on the fourth floor of the school library, and rarely came in before. In casual browsing, I turned to the last page of the Beijing Postgraduate Entrance Examination Catalogue, and the words "China Journalism College" came into my eyes at will.
Later, in an article, I described this moment like this: "As soon as I stayed, I closed my book and closed my eyes, and my life changed." Indeed, this moment is a "fuse" that ignites the mountain of fire in my heart.
The next day, I took a bus for most of the day, crossed more than half of the city, and came to this school that I had never heard of. After talking with a group of classmates and several teachers for several hours, I made a simple decision.
One day after half a year, I was sitting in the spacious conference room of China Journalism College, which was a postgraduate interview. A white-haired scholar asked calmly, "You studied a good major in a good university. Four years is not short. Don't you think it's a pity to give up what you have learned? "
Hearing this question, I was distracted. I suddenly remembered my father who died two years ago. My father's major is also mechanical and electrical engineering, and his education is secondary school. I was admitted to the university, and he chose my major, saying that I inherited my father's career.
My father is a typical peasant-born intellectual. He searched all his life and never left the coal mine. He takes life extremely seriously and works extremely hard. He did not hesitate to devote his enthusiasm to the construction of the mining area, and finally put himself into his life prematurely. In a remote ravine, he worked as an ordinary worker and a leader in a mining area. He was once all-powerful, but he was also wronged. When I left, I was more satisfied with human feelings. I didn't see him for the last time, but the only last words he left me were to bury himself on the boundary line of the mining area he had drawn.
My father left, and in a short time, I felt endless human feelings as a sophomore. I know this is only a small part of my father's feelings, and he has suffered much more than me. A few weeks later, on the train back to Beijing, I suddenly understood that my father's last words were actually a desire, a desire for career, a desire for passion and a desire for life. At that time, I wrote the first truly meaningful article in my life, Bloody Sunrise, and the protagonist of the article was my eternal idol-my father.
My father's departure made me think about the meaning of life, and indirectly put me on the road of writing. After the publication of Sunrise in Blood in the school magazine, it caused great repercussions. I found that I can express my feelings through words. After that, I will write an article in the school magazine every semester. Although the output is very low, I am serious and enjoy it.
Back to the interview site, in fact, many things happen for a reason, and many choices are both accidental and inevitable. Just like a person's life, he will face many choices, but he has been choosing. Who to eat with at noon, what to eat and what to say? What to do first in the afternoon, and then what? Such a problem will accompany a person's life. Some casual choices are saved, and some casual accidents appear. At a certain time, there will be life-changing changes, even fate changes.
What accident happened? It is the catalyst of these changes and the essence of life. The accident itself is unpredictable. But what will happen after the accident may be a necessity. At least, one thing is true, how you treat accidents, accidents will treat you; In other words, if you have a different attitude towards the accident, the result may be different; In other words, you can be who you want to be.
Of course, it is not easy to figure out what kind of person you want to be, and it may take a lifetime. For me, before I fully understand, the only thing I can do is to take my life seriously and my career seriously.
In fact, if you are serious, you will have passion and another taste of life. Grove, the former chairman of Intel, said: "Only paranoia can survive!" This is another confession of the same meaning: people need passion to live.
In a book, I also read a metaphor: if the annual leave of 4.6 billion years since the birth of the earth is set to 24 hours a day and night, then in the first 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds, human beings have not appeared. This last second is actually the whole history of mankind. By analogy, if human history is assumed to be 24 hours day and night, then human life is the last second.
A person's life is only one second, how can he not have good taste?
The mind can cross life and death.
In my life taste, I finally chose to give up the major my father chose for me and become an ordinary person who records history.
During my short career as a journalist, I witnessed many important and unexpected news events. Someone asked me why you can catch up with so many important events. In fact, it is very simple, because you put your heart into it, because you are willing to go, because you are willing to give up, so you grasped it, and then you surpassed yourself.
I often think about how to be a good reporter. A reporter's duty is to report news. A good reporter should be able to tell readers the valuable news facts you see in a good way.
This is not complicated to say, but it is not easy to do.
First of all, it is not easy to tell a good story, which means that journalists should have a good professional level and be good at telling stories. This ability is not formed overnight and needs long-term practice, practice and accumulation.
Secondly, it is more difficult to see valuable news facts, which means that journalists should go to the news scene, go to the front line, and feel and experience for themselves.
Whether a reporter feels or not is totally different. It's just hearsay. No matter how imaginative and creative you are, you can only stay on the surface of the news forever, and it's hard to write a work of flesh and blood. Only by going deep into the scene, going deep into the front line, going deep into the masses, facing the news facts directly, and being in close contact with the news objects, can we listen to the inner voice, touch ourselves, inspire enthusiasm, find the most essential and true thing, and not be confused by some illusions.
Journalists often encounter difficulties, hardships, accidents, touches, shocks, surprises and even life-threatening in the process of going deep into the scene and the front line. When all this becomes the imprint of your life, journalists will not only increase their experience, but also purify their hearts and realize life. This kind of thing can transcend fame and fortune, money, life and death, and become the soul behind news works, which will be used for life.
I often think of the first time I burst into tears during an interview, which was in the Bam earthquake-stricken area of Iran, and the time was 65438+February 27th, 2003.
The day before, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck this ancient city with a history of 2,200 years on the Silk Road, killing more than 40,000 people. After more than 30 hours of trekking, I arrived at the disaster site. The conditions in the disaster area are very difficult. The whole city was in ruins, most residents were killed or injured, the government was paralyzed, aftershocks continued, water, electricity and communication were completely cut off, and the first batch of relief materials brought by our Chinese rescue team could not even be received by official institutions.
The form is very important. The rescue team decided to hand over the relief materials to non-governmental organizations immediately, but it needs someone to escort and witness, and it is best to take photos of the handover. As a reporter, I am duty-bound to leave the team with another rescuer to perform this task. After completing the handover and filming the whole process of relief materials handover, I lost contact with this team member on my way back to the city, and therefore lost contact with the rescue team. I was alone, looking for a rescue team on foot and interviewing in the disaster area. In the shocking disaster area, I saw many tragic scenes. When I arrived at a clearing, I was stunned by what I saw. Involuntarily, I knelt down and burst into tears.
There are countless bodies here, thousands of bodies, wrapped in white cloth, spread out before our eyes and stretched out into the endless distant sky. In front of them are rows of densely packed bodies, and many bulldozers are working at the same time, covered with a thin layer of loess, forming a series of "ridges". There are also large and small pits, which are densely white.
In a pit with hundreds of bodies, there is only a boy 10 years old, kneeling beside a body in the middle of the pit, staring blankly with red eyes. Above the little boy's head is the dumping platform of the bulldozer, which is full of soil and ready to dump. Time suddenly stopped, the boy didn't move, and the machine didn't move. For a long time, the whole world seemed to be frozen in such a strange picture.
At that moment, I suddenly understood a lot of things.
Anyone, no matter who you are, will face the same problems as Hamlet without exception. No one can cross life and death, but the mind can.
Many times, when the mind goes through the process of life and death, the body will also be tested. In August, 2004, I experienced such a life-and-death test on the glacier of the snow-capped peak in Ngari Namuni, Tibet.
It was a 50-day Sino-American joint Himalayan glacier expedition. I'm the only reporter. The key area of this expedition is the Namnani Snow Peak, the highest peak in the western Himalayas, with an altitude of 7,694 meters, where there is the thickest valley glacier in China.
That was the day when we charged the main glacier. Scientists have to climb from 5600 meters above sea level to 6300 meters above sea level, lay ice cores and obtain scientific information. Before, we have experienced more than ten days of climbing and preparation. Due to poor equipment and shoes, my heel is badly worn.
The vice captain sent me two pairs of thick felt mats and a pair of high-waisted rubber shoes to wear with other players, but we got separated on the road. Just take care of yourself in that place. It's hard to take care of others. After finishing the interview work on the main glacier, I was left alone on the way back to the camp due to various reasons such as physical strength, equipment and injuries.
At 9 o'clock in the evening, I have thrown away everything I can, such as dry food and water. After walking for more than 10 hours, my physical fitness is close to the limit. At this time, it was getting dark. I am very lucky. In my most difficult time, a bright moon rose from the top of the snow peak, which helped me not to lose my way. I continued to grope step by step. At an altitude of about 6000 meters, every step is a torment. Due to extreme physical exhaustion, I have a strange feeling that every pore of myself seems to be pounding, which may be a sign of heart overload.
I don't remember what I was thinking, but I kept telling myself that I must not stop to have a rest. In this way, I walked for another five hours, and finally, at 2 am, I limped to the gate of the camp.
All the contestants were waiting there at that time. They hugged me one by one and welcomed me back. I will never forget that moment.
Do not take pleasure in external gains, and do not grieve for personal losses.
Journalist is a very special profession. Journalists are the watchmen of society, the participants of the times and the witnesses of history. The reporter's vision is dazzling, his world is colorful and his life is ordinary.
Journalist is a very common profession. Like all other professions, the process of being a journalist is the process of being a man. Being a good reporter is like being a good person. The hardest thing is to surpass yourself.
A netizen once asked me, "I'm going to switch to being a reporter." Can you give me some advice? " I think of Fan Zhongyan's sentence "Don't be happy with things, don't be sad for yourself" in the Northern Song Dynasty. This is my favorite sentence, and it is also my deepest experience for many years. It may be difficult for everyone to do this, but it is undoubtedly the beacon of life and the motto of journalists.
Being a good reporter is inseparable from normality. Because you choose this career, it means you have to face a lot. As far as people are concerned, they range from high-ranking government officials and billionaires to ordinary people, beggars and criminals. In terms of things, it may be difficult, it may be difficult, it may be dangerous, or it may be that ordinary people have a normal heart, so that they can treat others equally and calmly, and then you can finish your work scientifically and reasonably.
Of course, having a normal heart never means losing passion, which seems contradictory, but contradiction is the essence of life. For a reporter, this nature is more concentrated and magnified. To be a good reporter, you need enthusiasm and common sense. The art between the two may take a lifetime to experiment, think, understand and taste.
In the process of tasting, we also need the most basic thing, that is courage. When things happen, it is an inevitable choice for a good reporter to avoid, go up and take the initiative to do what he should do.
Like many others, I am happy for myself because I made such a choice.
In Aceh, Indonesia, the hardest hit by the Indian Ocean tsunami, I walked up without any equipment in the face of groups of naked and rotting bodies and suffocating stench infected by members of the Chinese international rescue team.
In the survey of Mount Qomolangma in 2005, I interviewed 100 days in the snowy Qinling Mountains and the high altitude area of Mount Qomolangma where the temperature difference between day and night is nearly 60 degrees, and saw how a group of ordinary survey team members accomplished a very extraordinary cause.
In the 76 days when I was almost isolated from the world on the space survey ship Wangyuan III, I kept recording the interview process and the feeling of sailing every day, taking photos every day, and accumulated tens of thousands of words of "Roy Diary".
Also, under the water more than ten meters deep in Fuxian Lake, Yunnan Province, on the reef plate of Xisha Islands in the South China Sea, in the hinterland of no man's land in Hoh Xil, Qinghai Province, in the forest near McMahon Line in southeastern Tibet, next to the dead Populus euphratica in Taklimakan Desert, Xinjiang, in the rare dinosaur fossil pile in Ningxia, and in the seven days and seven nights when Beijing Aerospace City adhered to Shenzhou VI.
As long as you pay, you will always get something.
Perhaps, the harvest will suddenly appear when you least expect it.
Just like I was on Wangyuan III, I was warmly welcomed by local Chinese when I stopped at Cape Town Port in South Africa for supplies at the end of my mission. Several people from China came to the ship to find me, took out Roy Diary printed from the Internet and said, Thank you for your article, which showed us the real life of the crew. They are too difficult, great! They are the pride of China people! Many overseas Chinese and international students in Cape Town are circulating this diary, and everyone is very moved to see these plain words. "Hearing them say that, my eyes are moist, and I think this is the highest reward for a reporter.
