Jinan has "seventy-two springs" because of the numerous springs in the country, and is known as "the city with lotus flowers and willows on all sides and mountains and lakes on all sides". It is a tourist city with unique characteristics of "mountains, springs, lakes, rivers and cities", a national historical and cultural city, the first batch of excellent tourist cities in China, and one of the birthplaces of prehistoric culture-Longshan culture.
Jinan successfully hosted many international and domestic events such as the Asian Cup, the National Games, China International Garden and Flower Expo and China Art Festival, and held the 22nd International Congress of Historical Science on 20 15.
