Reasons for the development of Greek shipping industry

1 Greece is located in the Balkan Peninsula in the eastern Mediterranean, bordering the Aegean Sea in the east, with winding coastline, numerous natural harbors, scattered islands and unique navigation conditions.

There is no fertile river plain in the Greek peninsula, and the mountains and criss-crossing rivers divide the Greeks into relatively isolated valleys and islands, which makes them unable to develop agriculture well and forces them to develop offshore industries in exchange for food and other commodities.

This technology is beneficial to social activities such as maritime colonization and promotes the development of the city-state.
