Yichang Waterway Engineering Bureau of the Yangtze River, formerly known as Yichang Waterway Section, was managed by the former Chongqing Waterway Area. In 1979, the Yichang Waterway Area of the Yangtze River Waterway Bureau was established, which has jurisdiction over two waterway stations, namely, Badong and Xiling, 10 Waterway Station, three tugboats, five dredgers and fleets, survey teams and pipeline teams, and is responsible for managing the Yun Chi Yangtze River Waterway in Badong-Zhijiang with a distance of 173 km. Since 1984, the working principle of "focusing on one industry, diversified business" has been implemented, and colleagues who perform waterway maintenance functions have started to operate in the market.
1986 Yichang Waterway Area of Changjiang Waterway Bureau was renamed as "Yichang Waterway Branch of Changjiang Waterway Bureau". On the premise of ensuring the smooth navigation in 173 km area, based on the Three Gorges and facing the Yangtze River, the project management market has been developing continuously, realizing the transformation of the management market from scratch and from large to small, and the economic benefits have increased year by year.
