According to media reports, Mobileye was acquired by Intel. This transaction may lead to direct competition between Intel and its old rivals NVIDIA and Qualcomm in the field of driverless driving, competing to develop driverless systems for global automakers. The driverless field may have to be reshuffled.
In the statement letter sent to employees by mobile ye CEO Qi Fu and CTO Dr. Amnon Shashua, the following details were mentioned:
1. Before this Monday, the senior management and board of directors of Mobileye kept the acquisition secret from employees for legal reasons. So don't ask friends who work in Mobileye. They were made big news by old friends like us.
2. Although Intel wholly acquired Mobileye, it is different from the general acquisition: after the transaction is completed, Mobileye will in turn integrate Intel's Autopilot Group (ADG). Intel's ADG team will be part of Mobileye, but it will still be headquartered in Israel.
3. Most of the technologies and employees currently owned by 3.ADG will be merged into Mobileye, including system engineers, vehicle R&D engineers, software engineers, simulators, map collection facilities, cloud computing and data centers. These resources will greatly enhance Mobileye's research and development strength.
4.Mobileye will keep its own brand name, but the logo will change accordingly to reflect its relationship with Intel.
Ziff and Shashua will continue to lead Mobileye's team and business as always. Intel will not send people to participate in or interfere with Mobileye's operation, but Mobileye will also actively learn from Intel's corporate culture and experience.
6.Mobileye's business will also remain unchanged, including the previously announced cooperation with a series of OEMs and Tier 1, chip business, EyeQ roadmap, afterloading business, etc. Mobileye will use Intel's resources to further expand its advantages in the above areas.
7. The whole acquisition process will not be completed until the end of 20 17 at the earliest. Until the acquisition is completed, the business and working status of Mobileye's current team will remain unchanged. Ziff and Shashua will make a detailed integration plan after carefully analyzing Intel's resources. This integration will further expand Mobileye's company scale, including establishing several new R&D bases in Israel and the United States.
