Oriental Cable Network Co., Ltd. (formerly Shanghai Cable Network Co., Ltd.), formerly known as Shanghai Cable TV Network Department, was established at the end of 1998. It was established by Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government in the form of joint-stock system in order to speed up the pace of informatization development in Shanghai.
