Wuhan Zhuanyang Viaduct was completed/KLOC-demolished after 0/6 years.

Dongfeng Avenue spans a bridge with a total length of about 3.4 kilometers. Zhuanyang Viaduct was once known as "the longest viaduct in Hubei". However, the design can't keep up with the development of traffic, frequent bridge deck accidents, frequent bridge closure in rainy and snowy days and at night are the chronic diseases of this viaduct for many years. With the start of the reconstruction project of Dongfeng Avenue Expressway, the Dunyang Elevated Road can only end its mission ahead of schedule and withdraw from the stage.

Instead, it is a wider and longer six-lane viaduct across Dongfeng Avenue. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in two years. The construction of Zhuanyang viaduct can be traced back to the widening and reconstruction project of Caidian section of 1996 national highway. According to the data, in March196, Wuhan 18 widened the road surface from Shengguandu to Dongyue Temple by 25.34 kilometers, with a total investment of 365 million yuan, which was listed as one of the key construction projects of Wuhan Municipal Government in the Ninth Five-Year Plan. In order to improve the traffic capacity, when the project passed through the section of Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, the longest dedicated Yang viaduct in the province was built. 1997, Zhuanyang viaduct was completed and opened to traffic, with a total length of about 3.4 kilometers, a width of 16 meters and four lanes in both directions.

After the opening of Zhuanyang Elevated Road, it greatly facilitated the vehicles leaving Wuhan via Dongfeng Avenue. However, in recent years, every night and in rainy and snowy weather, vicious traffic accidents occur frequently on the bridge, and the traffic control department has no choice but to take measures to "close the bridge". From 2004 to now, every night 10 to 6 am the next day, the viaduct has to be closed. In case of moderate rain or heavy rain, the bridge will also be closed during the day. According to the rough statistics of the traffic control department, from the opening to the closure of the bridge, the traffic accidents on the Zhuanyang viaduct are more than 20% higher than those of other bridges. "The demolition of the Zhuanyang viaduct is to cooperate with the reconstruction of the Dongfeng Avenue Expressway." Manager Zeng, deputy general manager of Wuhan Chedu Construction Investment Co., Ltd. said. The company is responsible for renovating the expressway.

The speed of expressway is more than 80 kilometers per hour, but the existing Zhuanyang viaduct can no longer meet this requirement. Manager Zeng said that the design speed of Zhuanyang viaduct is about 40 kilometers per hour, the bridge deck is 16 meters wide, and there are only four lanes in both directions. Moreover, there is no isolation pier in the middle of the bridge and no anti-collision pier on both sides of the bridge, which makes driving at night more dangerous. In addition, the upper and lower bridges at both ends of the bridge have steep slopes, and the upper bridge at one side of Dongjinghe Road has bends, all of which pose safety hazards. If asphalt is paved on the bridge deck, it will affect the bearing capacity of the bridge and the cost of pier reinforcement will be higher. Therefore, after repeated argumentation by experts, the Dunyang Viaduct can only be demolished. According to reports, the reconstruction project of Dongfeng Avenue Expressway is a key project in Wuhan. The first phase of the project will build a two-way six-lane elevated road along Dongfeng Avenue. "The total length of the viaduct is 5. 1 km, and the investment of the whole project is 2.4 billion yuan." Manager Zeng said.

Previously, Wuhan Chedu Construction Investment Co., Ltd. communicated with Wuhan Highway Management Office for many times on the demolition of Zhuanyang Viaduct, and issued a tender announcement with an investment of 58 million yuan and a construction period of 60 days.

Manager Zeng said that the renovation project has started and the Zhuanyang Viaduct is scheduled to open to traffic next month. At the same time, due to the Dunkou section of Dongfeng Avenue, three stations of Metro Line 3 are under construction. In order to avoid repeated excavation, the reconstruction project will be carried out simultaneously with the construction of Metro Line 3 and cross-constructed. The new viaduct is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in May 2005.

In terms of traffic impact, Manager Zeng said that after repeated consultations with Wuhan Traffic Management Bureau, the traffic diversion design during construction was formulated, which would keep the two-way six-lane traffic on Dongfeng Avenue smooth.

Wuhan Zhuanyang Viaduct Blasting Successfully

20 13, 18 At 22 o'clock on May 8, 2008, Pier 84, located at the highest point and middle point of the viaduct, was detonated for the first time, and the viaduct collapsed inward at the same time. The whole blasting process lasted 26 seconds like setting off firecrackers.
