Shanghai wangxiao temple

Located at today's Kongjiang Road 167 1 Lane 1, it is said that it was built in the Ming Dynasty. It is an orthodox Taoist school.

Xiao Wang, the folklore is Xiao He in the Western Han Dynasty, but Xiao He never made him king. Qing Jiaqing's "Shanghai County Records" holds that "the family has made great contributions to the prosperity of Zuohe River, so the counties and counties worship it more", referring to the Xiao family of the Liang royal family in the Southern Dynasties.

Wang Xiao Temple was built many times in the Qing Dynasty, and was inherited by Zhang Daochang in the late Qing Dynasty.

Before the Anti-Japanese War, Wang Xiao Temple had three entrances and two corridors. The first entrance is dedicated to Wang Lingguan and four marshals (Ma Sheng, Wen Qiong, Zhao Gongming and Guan Yu), and the second entrance is the main hall, dedicated to Xiao Wang and Wang Zhongxian (Liu Yongyong). The third entrance is the Houdian, where Leizu and Rebecca are enshrined. During the August 13th Incident in the 26th year of the Republic of China, most temples were burned by the Japanese army. In 35 years, Chenghuang Temple and Wang Liujun Temple were rebuilt. At the same time, the ten halls of Yan, Judge, Dizang and Leizu were sacrificed. The peak period of burning incense in the temple is from the third day to the eighteenth day of the first lunar month. Take the thirteenth to the sixteenth as an example, and the nearby villages set up sacrifices in turn. In 36 years of the Republic of China, the abbot Zhang Xiangrong helped the underground party member in China to set up a small temple compulsory primary school in the temple, which became the underground activity point of the Yulin branch in China.

After liberation, Xiaomiao Compulsory Primary School was renamed as Kongjiang Primary School, and the temple continued to open. 1960, the liaison office of confessions of the Taoist scriptures was established. Paper processing group was established in 1965. During the "Cultural Revolution", religious activities were stopped. 1989 due to the need of municipal construction, Shanghai Taoist Association transferred the property right of the temple to Yangpu District Urban Construction Bureau for compensation.
