Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate fumarate (TDF, trade name Viread) is a new nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTIs) produced by Gilead Sciences, USA, which inhibits HIV replication by inhibiting the activity of HIV- 1 reverse transcriptase.
Tenofovir is the first-line antiviral drug recommended by WHO AIDS treatment guidelines. In China, it is listed as a national first-line drug for free antiviral treatment of AIDS.
