Are financial groups and financial holding companies the same concept?

Financial groups and financial holding companies are different. From the analysis of its organizational form, financial holding companies are mainly business holding companies or operating holding companies, that is, holding companies, as parent companies, have their own main businesses and hold more than two financial institutions engaged in different financial businesses. This kind of company can be divided into two types:

(1) Industrial and commercial enterprises control financial institutions, such as the Capital Group, Dongfang Group, Haier Group and other enterprises.

(2) Holding companies formed by financial enterprises holding other financial institutions.

A financial group refers to an enterprise group with financial business as its main business and at least obviously engaged in two or more business activities of banking, securities and insurance.

Financial holding company is an organizational form to realize the comprehensive operation of the financial industry, and it is also a capital operation form to pursue the optimization of capital investment and the maximization of capital profit. In the financial holding group, the holding company can be regarded as a group company, and other financial enterprises can be regarded as member enterprises. Group companies and member enterprises are related to each other through property rights or management relations. Although each member enterprise is controlled and influenced by the group company, it must bear civil liability independently.
