Armenia buys Indian truck guns

According to the Indian website, Bharat Forging Company, headquartered in Pune, announced that its subsidiary, Caliani Strategic Systems Company, has received an export order for 155mm truck guns with a total value of 65,438+555.5 million US dollars, which will be manufactured and delivered within three years. Indian Ministry of Defence sources confirmed that the buyer is Armenia, and it is said that it intends to buy four or five regiments of 155mm vehicle-mounted guns (MGS).

Each regiment will consist of 18 to 20 guns. The only vehicle-mounted gun that meets this restriction is MARG 155-BR/TC-20 vehicle-mounted gun. Coincidentally, Armenia also bought Pinaka rockets and anti-artillery radars from India before. It seems that Armenia loves Indian weapons deeply!

MARG 155-BR vehicle-mounted gun was developed by Caliani Strategic Systems Company, and the development number was TC-20.

The chassis of the gun is an ALSMK.4 4X4 truck from Ashokleyland, India. It is 7.395 meters long, 2.5 meters wide and 2.96 meters high, with a total weight of 7.25 tons, a ground clearance of 0.305 meters and a payload of 5-7.5 tons. Equipped with 177 HP W06DTI turbocharged diesel engine, the maximum running speed is 82 kilometers per hour.

The total combat weight of the car is 18 tons, and the rear of the car is equipped with a platform with parking hoe function, so the length of the car is obviously increased.

The car is equipped with a simplified version of 39 caliber 155mmULH ultralight howitzer, which is made of steel and weighs 6.8 tons. Its gun body adopts 155 mm 39 times caliber gun barrel, double-cavity impact muzzle brake, re-entry gun barrel and brake gun barrel are arranged above and below the gun barrel and directly installed on the turntable at the back of truck chassis. The muzzle brake of the gun is stored in the groove at the top of the front cab and fixed by the traveling fixer at the rear.

The lateral direction angle of this gun is 25 and the elevation angle is-2 to+72. The gun adopts short spiral separated semi-automatic bolt, which needs manual installation of primer and loading and shooting. The maximum firing rate is 3 minutes 12 rounds, with three rounds in 30 seconds. The range of non-extended-range projectiles is 24.7 km, and that of extended-range projectiles is 30 km, with a total of 18 rounds of ammunition.

Its tail has an extension, which may be an auxiliary loading device similar to spring energy storage. The fire control system is installed in the carriage, which can be ready to fire within 1.5 minutes during the day and 2 minutes at night. In September 2022, Armenia also purchased four sets of Indian PinakaMLRS.

The rocket launcher adopts Kohloss -8 15 8×8 off-road chassis specially produced by Bharat Company, with a maximum speed of 70km/h, a maximum inclination angle of 30 and a maximum cruising range of 500km. Advanced fire control computer and automatic gun calibration and positioning system are installed in the cabin.

The rear chassis is equipped with launch box turntable, which adopts electric elevator and orienter. The directional shooting boundary is 90, and the maximum elevation angle is 55. Two modular launch boxes filled with six rockets are installed on it, which can be hoisted and replaced as a whole. Pinaka rockets can launch MK- 1/2 uncontrolled rockets and guided rockets. The Mk-I rocket is 4.95 meters long and weighs 275 kilograms, with a maximum range of 37.5 kilometers and a circular probability error of 1-2%. The MK- international rocket has a range of 40 kilometers.

The length of MK-2 rocket is 5.20m, the maximum range is 60km, the circular error is within 1-2% of the range, and 12 rockets can be launched in 44 seconds. The total weight of the guided rocket is 325 kg, the length is 5. 17 m, the warhead weighs 100 kg, and the propellant weighs 132 kg. Equipped with inertial navigation and satellite guidance, it can volley in 48 seconds, with an attack area of 700x500 meters and a range of 80 kilometers.

The whole system includes six launch vehicles, 1 ammunition replenishment loading vehicle, 1 command vehicle, "digital Cora" high-altitude weather radar and Schwartz phased array artillery positioning radar. Armenians used it to make up for the shortage of long-range rockets.

In March 2020, Armenia purchased four Swathi anti-artillery radars developed and produced by DRDO and Bharat Electronics Company for US$ 40 million. Later, it was reported that it could not accurately detect the direction of enemy shells in the Naka War in September 2020, and the calculated estimated orbit error was very large. But in fact, these four anti-artillery radars were not transported to Armenia by an-100 transport plane until 202 124- 100, and never caught up with the war again.

Swathi anti-artillery radar is carried by Tatra8x8 truck chassis, with phased array radar in front and control cabin installed in the rear. In addition, there is a separate electric vehicle to power the radar, which can automatically track and transmit enemy artillery data to the command center. These radars can work together in a networked way to improve accuracy.

The deployment time of this radar is 30 minutes. Phased array radar can scan 90 sectors when it is fixed, and the azimuth angle is+/-45 when it is electrically scanned. It can rotate 135 to any side for scanning in 30 seconds, and can detect 7 targets at the same time. The detection speed is 1-2 minutes, and the detection distance for shells above 105 mm is

The radar can resist electronic interference and ground clutter interference, and has the function of adaptive radar resource scheduling, which can improve efficiency and reliability. This type of radar can adapt to the temperature of -20 to +55℃, resist the harsh environment and adapt to the plateau at an altitude of 4900m km. Armenia used it to offset Azerbaijan's artillery superiority.

Armenia's purchase of Indian weapons is mainly due to the increasingly close relationship between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan, which has stimulated Armenia. Turkish President Erdogan accused India of supporting Pakistan on the Kashmir issue and became hostile to India. Therefore, India took the initiative to regard Armenia as a friend, and made Armenia an important strategic partner of India through various means such as national defense, trade and investment to balance Afghanistan, Turkey and Pakistan.

Armenia is also looking for new suppliers that can replace Russia. Just as India was constantly seeking foreign arms exports, the two sides hit it off and the trade volume gradually increased.
