DDR5 is a computer memory specification. Compared with DDR4 memory, DDR5 standard has stronger performance and lower power consumption. Other changes are that the voltage is reduced from 1.2V to 1. 1V, and at the same time, each channel has 32/40 bits (ECC), so the bus efficiency is improved, the number of bank groups prefetched is increased, and the performance is improved. At present, there is no official platform to support DDR5 memory. AMD expects to replace the slot on Zen4 processor at 202 1 to support DDR5 memory, while 14nm and 10nm processors in Intel have not explicitly supported DDR5 memory. According to the official roadmap, DDR5 will adopt the 7nm sapphire Rapids processor of 202 1, which is the first server product.
