All four companies entered China in 1980s. Due to policy restrictions, they all set up joint ventures with Sinotrans. The term of the joint venture contract of DHL is 50 years, and the other three companies are 15 years. Therefore, DHL has been given priority by the state, and it has the highest market share in China among the four companies. The other three companies were spun off from Sinotrans in 2003 and 2004 respectively. It belongs to Holland Post.
These four companies have their own advantages in the world. For example, starting from China, FedEx and UPS have their own advantages in American routes and Japanese routes, TNT has absolute advantages in Europe, West Asia and the Middle East, and DHL has advantages in going to Japan, Southeast Asia and Australia.
