1. Exploration and main production
Petroleum exploration and production is the basic core of Saudi Aramco's business. The exploration and production work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is monopolized by Aramco. Starting from 1986, the company began to implement the national exploration plan. By 1994, the national exploration scope has increased by about 7 times, with a total area exceeding1500,000 square kilometers. Successful exploration and improved mining technology enable the company to continuously increase crude oil reserves or maintain last year's reserves. At the end of 1996, the company's proven crude oil reserves reached 35.82 billion tons, an increase of 1% compared with 1995 and a 40-fold increase compared with 1988. The reserve-production ratio was 84 years, ranking first in the world. 1996 crude oil output is 392 million tons, ranking first in the world. Saudi Arabia is the largest oil producer in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and the country with the largest surplus capacity, with an oil export volume of about 350 million tons/year. The oil produced by Saudi Aramco is divided into five grades, from heavy oil to new high-quality light oil, which can meet the specific needs of refineries all over the world. 1996 Saudi Aramco produces 37.46 billion cubic meters of natural gas, accounting for 1.6% of the world's total output, ranking ninth in the world; /kloc-0 The proven natural gas reserves at the end of 1996 were 53 trillion cubic meters, accounting for 3.2% of the world's proven reserves, ranking sixth in the world. The natural gas produced by Saudi Aramco is mainly associated gas. Before the general natural gas system (1982) was built, most natural gas was burned in the form of torch. After the all-natural gas system is put into use, the moisture treatment capacity is 44.4 billion cubic meters/year. At present, associated gas and non-associated gas all enter the system, and about 50% of natural gas production can be used and sold. Saudi Aramco has established three natural gas treatment plants in Berry, Utma Nia and Shedgum; There are two fractionation plants in Juaymah and Yanbu, which are used to recover condensate oil and produce ethane, propane, butane and natural gas oil. After merging the business of Saudi sales and refining companies, Saudi Aramco began to be responsible for the sales of liquefied petroleum gas.
2. Petroleum processing
In Saudi Arabia, Saudi Aramco operates many refineries with a total refining capacity of 5,065.438 billion tons/year. In addition, it has established joint-venture refineries with Shell and Mobile, with a total refining capacity of 365,438+065,438+085,000 tons/year. The crude oil 100% required by all seven refineries is provided by Saudi Aramco itself. Petrolube, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Mobile, owns 765,438+0% of the shares, operates two lubricating oil plants in Jeddah and Riyadh respectively, and Lubaref, a joint venture with Mobile, owns 70% of the shares and owns a lubricating oil refining and processing plant in Jeddah.
Star Enterprise Company, which holds 50% shares of Saudi Aramco, is responsible for oil refining and oil product sales in the United States, and operates three refineries with a processing capacity of about 30 million tons/year. It also operates 50 oil distribution terminals and 1000 gas stations. In addition, Saudi Aramco also owns shares in refineries in North Korea, the Philippines and Greece. 15% of Saudi Aramco's crude oil is processed in its foreign joint venture refinery.
The product distribution network has invested heavily.
The company has 27 oil tankers, including 4 supertankers, 9 supertankers 19 (each with a loading capacity of 29 ~ 30 1 10,000 tons) and 4 finished oil tankers. All tankers belong to its subsidiary Vera International.
