Its head is small, but a pair of compound eyes are well developed and protrude to both sides. Its mouthparts are chewing and its abdomen is slender. Adults are 23-32 mm long and spread their wings 52-67 mm. Most of them belong to medium or large insects, which look like dragonflies. The antennae of anthers are short and rod-shaped, and the top gradually expands and slightly bends.
