George claims to be the fourth generation descendant of the famous composer Mendelssohn. He studied music at Budapest Conservatory of Music and worked as a record salesman before setting up VOX. The company has recorded for conductor otto klemperer and pianist Alfred Brendel.

1965, Vox set up a loss-making subsidiary to publish cheap records. 1968 set up Candid (Justice) subsidiary to release medium-priced records.
1978, George sold Vox to MMG and set up another company called Pantheon. Vox MMG recorded rachmaninoff's rare orchestral works performed by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra conducted by Slatter King.
1989, Moss Group was acquired by Essex Entertainment. Vox is Latin, meaning "sound".
