The history of le havre

The city was founded in 15 17, and was named after Franciscopolis I, and later renamed as "le havre-de-gr&; AcircCe), which means "Grace Port", and "le havre" means port or wharf. Le havre was built to replace the ancient ports of Hibiscus and Hibiscus which have been silted up. By the19th century, it had developed into an industrial center.

After the war, Auguste Perret rebuilt its downtown and adopted a modern style. In 2005, the city of le havre rebuilt by Auguste Pellet was listed as a world cultural heritage.
