On August 24th, 2020, Qiannan Intermediate People's Court of Guizhou Province publicly pronounced Liu Zili, former deputy secretary, vice chairman and general manager of the Party Committee of China Kweichow Moutai Distillery (Group) Co., Ltd., and sentenced the defendant Liu Zili to 11 years and 6 months in prison for accepting bribes, and fined RMB 1 million. Liu Zili's bribe-taking property is equivalent to RMB 18547762 and its fruits, which shall be recovered according to law and turned over to the state treasury.

It was found through trial that from 2008 to 20 18, the defendant Liu Zili took advantage of his position as deputy secretary, vice chairman and general manager of the Party Committee of Kweichow Moutai Distillery (Group) Co., Ltd. in China to seek benefits for others in matters such as obtaining the right to operate Moutai and checking the purchasing index of liquor, and received property directly or through his wife and daughter, which was equivalent to RMB18,547,620 yuan in total.

The court held that the defendant Liu Zili, as a national staff member, took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others in matters such as obtaining the right to operate Moutai liquor and approving procurement indicators, and illegally accepted other people's property, equivalent to RMB18,547,762 yuan, which was extremely huge, and his behavior constituted the crime of accepting bribes. Defendant Liu Zili confessed the facts of the crime truthfully after he was brought to justice, and voluntarily confessed most of the facts of the crime that were not mastered by the case-handling organ. He pleaded guilty and repented in court, which was a confession. After the incident, he actively assisted the case-handling organ in returning part of the stolen money, which has a statutory and discretionary lighter punishment, and should be given a lighter punishment according to law. The court then made the above judgment.
