According to the person in charge of Nanchang Rail Office, the urban rapid rail transit planning in Nanchang began at the beginning of this century. In 2007, Nanchang rapid rail transit construction leading group was established, and a lot of detailed and solid basic work was done. In 2009, with the approval of the National Development and Reform Commission and the General Office of the State Council, Nanchang was listed as the second batch of cities applying for the construction of rail transit projects.

At present, two batches of cities in China have been approved to build subways: Beijing, Shanghai, Hefei, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changchun, Dalian, Chongqing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Nanchang, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Harbin, Xi 'an, Suzhou, Qingdao and Changsha.

According to the goal of Nanchang City Master Plan (2003-2020), Nanchang has put forward the principle of "west, east, north and south" in the overall urban development thinking, and plans to build three rail transit lines with herringbone structure by 2020. Three lines run through the north and south, passing through the city. Design more than 60 sites, nearly 70 kilometers long. Together with the two lines planned and constructed in the prospective year, the total length of the city's rail lines can reach 168 km.

② Direction of the main station of the route: Wangcheng, Nanchang High-speed Passenger Transport West Station, North Avenue in front of the station, Honggu South Avenue, Fenghe Avenue, Fenghuang No.1 Road, Yangming Road, Bayi Avenue, Luoyang Road, Nanchang Railway Station, Shunwai Road, Shanghai Road and Guangzhou Road to Luojia Town.

③ Yaohu, Minfeng Road, Danxia Road, Qingshan Road, Bayi Avenue, Dieshan Road, Xiangshan Road, Xiangshan South Road, Jinshengta Street, Cross Street, Jingshan North Road, Yingbin Avenue and Li Antang.

④ High-speed Passenger West Railway Station, Zhanqian North Street, Chaoyang Zhou Nan, Fusheng Road, Hongcheng Road, Hongdu Avenue, Nanjing East Road, Shanghai Road, Guowei Road and Torch Avenue.
