Lion-headed goose is a kind of bird belonging to the genus Anatidae, with a big head and a thick neck and a square front. The ventral feathers are white or grayish white, and the edges of brown feathers are lighter with tassels. The beak is short and black, and the submandibular pharyngeal sac is arched, extending to the neck and lower part of the beak. The rainbow is brown, with soft facial skin and prominent eyelids, mostly yellow. The skin is beige or milky white, and gaskin and webbed skin are orange with black spots. It is named after the developed cheek sarcoma of the frontal goose, which is lion-headed.

Extensive breeding

Lionhead Goose originated in Xilou Village, Fu Bin Town, Raoping County, Guangdong Province, China, and is now widely raised in eastern China. Rice is the main feed in artificial breeding, and compound feed is often used at present. During the laying period, the compound diet is used as the main feed, the chaff is used as the filler, and the forage is fed according to the supply situation. A goose over 2 years old lays about 30 eggs a year, so it has a strong nesting ability. Every time spawning 1 grain, nesting 1 time, nesting period is 25-30 days.

Lionhead Goose is native to Fubin Town, Raoping County, Guangdong Province, and mainly distributed in the suburbs of Chenghai, Chaoan and Shantou. The sarcoma of this kind of goose can increase with age and looks like a lion's head, so it is called a lion's head goose. The jaw is large, the mouth is short and wide, the neck is moderate, the chest and abdomen are wide and deep, and the claws and webbed feet are orange or yellow-gray. Adult male geese weigh 10 ~ 12 kg, and female geese weigh 9 ~ 10 kg. Rapid growth and strong physique. Early maturity, rich muscle and excellent meat quality. However, the number of eggs laid each year is only 25 ~ 35, and the average weight of each egg is about 203g.
