Why did Resident Evil translate into Resident Evil?

At first, Resident Evil's English name in Asia was biohazard, which can be translated into Resident Evil. But it was released in America, with the same name as a band. I can't call it that, so I used a new name in America: Resident Evil.

Resident does mean "living", although the name "Castle of Evil Spirit" may just be the name given by Taiwan Province after seeing the content of the game.

Resident Evil series games were produced by Japanese video game software company and distribution company Capcom (officially designated Chinese translation) Co., Ltd., which was established in 1979. Founded as "I.R.M", it is an electrical appliance retailer. Later, the company changed its name to "Capcom" at 1983, and changed its business direction to software sales.
