The predecessor of the company is Xiamen Dock Co., Ltd., which is wholly owned by Britain. It was founded in 1858 and has the first 1000-ton dry dock in China. Martin, a British writer, once called it "the first seedling of China machinery industry". 19 19 was redeemed by the Fujian provincial government of the Republic of China and merged into Xiamen Shipyard by the Ministry of Navy of the Republic of China on 1924. During the Japanese puppet regime, it was called Jiantai Shipyard. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, it was renamed Xiamen Shipyard.
After release, it was listed as PLA Navy 103 Factory. 1958 merged with No.2 Shipyard of Logistics Department of Fuzhou Military Region in Gulangyu Island and local state-owned Xiamen Shipyard in Xiamen Port, and was renamed Xiamen Shipyard. 1976 was designated as the centralized factory of the Sixth Ministry of Machinery of China, and successively produced "2 13" armed reconnaissance fishing boat, "079" medium-sized landing ship, "9 17" mine fishing boat, 1000 ton finished oil tanker and other military products.
