What is Sun?

Sun Microsystems Inc.

The official name of American Sun Company is "Sun Microsystems Company" in Chinese mainland and "Shenyang Computer Company" in Taiwan Province Province.

1982, Sun Microsystems was born in the campus of Stanford University.

1986 was successfully listed in the United States, and "SUN" was taken from the English abbreviation of Stanford Unix Networks. The main products are workstations and servers. 1992 Shengyang launched the first multi-processor desktop SPARCstation 10 system in the market, and entered the world's top 500 the following year.

1995 Shengyang developed Java technology, the first universal software platform. 1997, Shenyang began to launch its new 64-bit server series Sun Enterprise 10000. In the same year, Java 2 was developed.

Sun is considered as one of the most creative enterprises in the industry, maintaining a research and development budget of up to $2 billion every year, and is trying new pricing models for software and computing power. At present, it is the only company whose products cover microprocessor chips, servers, operating systems and application software development and operation platforms. However, Sun also introduced servers using microprocessors from other companies such as Intel and AMD, and its operating system Solaris began to be provided in an open source and free way.
