Yingxian County belongs to Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province. Located in the northern part of Shanxi Province, at the southern end of Datong Basin, it is adjacent to Hengshan Mountain in the east, Yanmen in the south and Datong Coal Sea in the north.

Yingxian has a continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons, with an average annual temperature of about 7℃ and an annual rainfall of 360 mm. The first frost period is in late September, and the frost-free period is from 100 to 140 days. There is a world-famous wooden tower in the north of the county seat.
Yingxian Wooden Pagoda is also called Buddha Temple Sakyamuni Pagoda. It is called the three largest towers in the world together with the Eiffel Tower and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy.
