Potassium nitrate is an inorganic compound, commonly known as sodium sulfate or mirabilite, and its chemical formula is KNO3. It is a potassium-containing nitrate, colorless and transparent diamond crystal or white powder, tasteless and nontoxic, salty and cool. It absorbs little water in the air and is not easy to agglomerate. It is soluble in water, liquid ammonia and glycerol, but insoluble in anhydrous ethanol and ether.
Potassium nitrate is a chlorine-free compound fertilizer with high solubility, and its effective components, nitrogen and potassium, can be quickly absorbed by crops without chemical residue. As a fertilizer, it is suitable for vegetables, fruits and flowers, and some crops sensitive to chlorine (such as potatoes, strawberries, beans, cabbage, lettuce, peanuts, carrots, onions, blueberries, tobacco, apricots, grapefruit and avocados).
Potassium nitrate is a strong oxidant, which will cause combustion and explosion when it comes into contact with organic matter. Therefore, potassium nitrate should be stored in a cool and dry place, away from kindling and heat sources. Never store and transport with reducing agent, acid, flammable (combustible) materials and metal powder.
