What's the difference between French cdd and cdi?

Cdd is a contract with a time limit, usually one month, three months, six months, one year and three years. CDI is an open-ended contract. Theoretically, the contract is valid for life.

Because the cdd contract is valid, the corresponding benefits are also valid. The validity of permanent residence for foreigners staying through CDD is the validity of CDD.

The validity of cdi is lifelong, and the corresponding income is lifelong. As long as the enterprise does not close down and the employees do not leave the company illegally or voluntarily, it is necessary to pay the severance payment equivalent to 8 years' salary in one lump sum to dismiss the employees. Foreigners who reside through CDI can apply for permanent residence for one year, then apply for five years, and then continue to live 10 years.

Because cdI means huge risks and costs for enterprises, for foreigners and young people, enterprises generally tend to sign CDD instead of CDI.
