1. China Merchants Bank is the first joint-stock commercial bank in China that is wholly controlled by an enterprise as a legal person. Founded on April 8 1987 by Hong Kong China Merchants Group Co., Ltd., it is the sixth largest bank in China and one of the eight banks and five guarantees of China financial stocks in Hong Kong.
The head office is located in Futian District, Shenzhen. On April 9, 2002, China Merchants Bank A shares were listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. On September 8, 2006, China Merchants Bank began its public offering in Hong Kong, issuing about 2.2 billion H shares and raising HK$ 20 billion. It was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on September 22. The net capital exceeds 290 billion, and the total assets exceed 4.4 trillion.
