1994, according to the tentative requirements of the state to form "big groups and big companies", with the approval of the state, the Economic and Trade Commission and the Ministry of Metallurgy set up a part of design institutes, survey institutes and construction enterprises under the Ministry as enterprise consortia with MCC Construction Company as the core. China Metallurgical Construction Company was renamed as China Metallurgical Construction Group Company.
1998 in accordance with the spirit of the 15th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the requirements of institutional reform and the formation of large groups in the State Council, with the consent of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Metallurgy decided to transfer the personnel rights and assets of all survey and design institutes and construction enterprises under the Ministry of Metallurgy to the management of MCC. At this point, MCC began to operate in accordance with the "parent-child" company model under the modern enterprise system.
1999, approved by the State Council, MCC was decoupled from the competent authorities and placed under the central management.
On May 8, 2006, with the approval of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, China Metallurgical Construction Group Corporation was renamed China Metallurgical Science and Industry Corporation, and was renamed China Metallurgical Science and Industry Corporation after it entered the pilot operation of the board of directors.
