Previous European Golden Boot Awards

The European Golden Boot Award started at 1967, sponsored by Adidas and implemented by French weekly French Football. However, due to the controversy over the scoring system at that time (the European Golden Boot Award was always born in a low-level league and had a bad winning style), it was stopped at 199 1. The newly restored Golden Boot Award is still sponsored by Adidas, but implemented by British World Football and European Sports Magazine Group. At the same time, according to the club's achievements in domestic and European competitions, the best club is selected. (No comments here)

The top scorer in the World Cup has always been admired by fans all over the world. Frederick was the first striker in the world to score 1000. Although he retired before the first World Cup in 1930, he is still a legend in Brazil. In Argentina, Paraguayan Eric also made his mark in the history of the Golden Boot Award. Puskas in Hungary, Pele in Brazil, Mueller in the former West Germany and Sebbio in Portugal are all famous for their achievements in the restricted area. The first winner of the European Golden Boot Award was Mozambican Sebbio, who scored 43 goals for Benfica in the 1967- 1968 season. However, the concept of this award was later cited by Adidas in other events and competitions, and the first World Cup Golden Boot shooter appeared in the World Cup. Some countries also reward the top scorers in domestic leagues according to this award, such as England and former West Germany.

In the domestic league, this award is well evaluated; However, due to human factors in Europe, this award was suspended in 1990- 199 1 season. In fact, as early as 1976, Cypriot striker Kayafas had scored 39 goals for Nicosia O 'Mogna and won the Golden Boot Award, which caused widespread dissatisfaction (because some people pointed out that the league level was too poor and the award was not worthy of the name).

In order to prevent similar things from happening, people agreed that small football countries should be excluded from this award, but after that, a bigger problem came out. In a few eastern European countries, this award is used as a weight to promote sports and politics. The most typical example is the Romanian sword killing Camataru: he scored 44 goals for Dinamo Bucharest and won the Golden Boot Award in the 1986- 1987 season. In that season, he moved from Levente Jova to Dinamo Bucharest. Fans never noticed that he would be a contender for the Golden Boot Award, although his compatriot George Scu won the award twice in 1970s. 1In May 1987, Dynamo Bucharest played the first 25 of 34 league games, and Camata scored 19 goals, which was incomparable with several top shooters at that time: a pollster in FK, Austria, Alan from Tottenham, England, and McClair from Celtic, Scotland. However, in a league match between Dinamo Bucharest and Victoria Bucharest on May 3rd, Camataru scored four goals in an hour, which ended in a 4-4 draw. A week later, in Pleistotti's game against Patriots, he scored another penalty. On May 13, Dinamo Bucharest played against star Bucharest at home, and the score was 1 ratio 1. Camataru failed to score, and the star Bucharest led by 9 points, and the championship was in sight. Dinamo Bucharest ranked second, six points more than Victoria, who ranked third, and actually secured a seat in the UEFA Cup.

Since then, in order to win the Golden Boot Award, Camataru scored 2 1 in seven matches on 1 month/day, but Dinamo Bucharest won only two of them. In this way, Camataru scored 23 goals in the first 27 games and 2 1 goal in the last 7 games, and won the Golden Boot Award with a total of 44 goals, five more than Postel, who ranked second. Pollsters are furious about this. He said, "Don't expect me to attend the prize-winning conference. I don't think I will shake hands with him as an athlete. " After the fall of ceausescu, people realized that Camataru was just a "pawn" of internal corruption in Romania at that time. However, his success disgraced other Eastern European shooters, such as Matthew and CSKA's Stoichkov.

Therefore, it is not surprising that French Football withdrew its support for the Golden Boot Award in the 1990- 199 1 season. Adidas stopped sponsoring without a partner. 199 1 The last Golden Boot Award Gala was also cancelled, and Pan Caifu, the winner of the Golden Boot Award from the Red Star team in the former Yugoslavia, did not receive the award.

Since then, Adidas has long wanted to revive the Golden Boot Award, but it can't find a publication as a carrier. Later, it held talks with many magazines. French Football has priority, but it was rejected. Adidas contacted the European sports magazine group including World Football.

The challenge of the Golden Boot Award is to find a scoring system that reflects the different levels of European football countries, and finally reach an agreement according to last season's competition.

The following are the selection rules for the European Golden Boot Award:

1. All European club players who participate in the top leagues in various countries are eligible to participate in the selection;

2. Only by scoring goals in the league can you score goals;

3. Score one point for every goal scored;

4. Multiply the number of goals by the football coefficient of the country where the goal scorer is located to get the ranking score;

5. The football coefficient of each country is determined by UEFA according to the ranking of the country's teams in the three European cups (now two cups).

The scorer coefficient of UEFA's first to eighth national leagues is 2; The league scorer coefficient of countries ranked ninth to twentieth in UEFA is1.5; The national league striker coefficient after UEFA ranked second1is1;

6. Every June, the shooter with the highest score at the end of the European League will ask Adidas to give him a prize symbolizing the European Golden Boot.
