1. COFCO group co., ltd (COFCO in English, or COFCO for short in Chinese) is a fortune 500 enterprise, the largest grain, oil and food enterprise in China, and a central enterprise. In 2009, COFCO Investment acquired a 20% stake in Mengniu for HK$ 6 1 billion. Through this equity investment, COFCO became the largest shareholder of Mengniu.
2. Danone is a French multinational food company headquartered in District 9. The company has four business lines: fresh dairy products, water, early life nutrition and medical nutrition. France Danone invested in Mengniu by establishing a joint venture with COFCO, the current major shareholder of Mengniu Dairy. The joint venture company will hold 8.3% shares of Mengniu Dairy, and Daneng will hold 49%. Meanwhile, Danone China's yogurt business will merge with Mengniu's yogurt business. Danone's total investment in the above two cooperation projects is about 2.6 billion yuan.
3.Arla Foods, a joint venture between Sweden and Denmark, is currently headquartered in Aarhus, Denmark, and is the largest dairy producer in Scandinavia. Nordic dairy giant Arla Foods signed agreements with Mengniu Dairy and COFCO in Denmark. Ai Chenxi will acquire Mengniu shares held by private equity firm Hopu Fund for HK$ 2.2 billion, becoming the second largest strategic shareholder of the company.
4. Jinniu Company and Yinniu Company are overseas companies registered in BVI on September 23rd, 2002 by Mengniu executives and "executives of companies related to Mengniu business" respectively. Jinniu Company is composed of Mengniu executives, with 0/5 shareholders/kloc, and Niu Gensheng holds 28% of the shares.
Mengniu, founded in 1999, is a supplier of dairy products manufacturing enterprises headquartered in People's Republic of China (PRC) and Mongolia. At present, its well-known brands are Telunsu and Innocence. Mengniu is one of the leading enterprises producing milk, yogurt and dairy products in Chinese mainland. By 2005, it has become the second largest dairy enterprise in China, with the output of liquid milk and ice cream ranking first in China.
