Who owns the broadcasting rights of the Super League?
CCTV Sports Channel enjoys the status of the only sports channel covering the whole country in China. On September 2nd, 2003, 12, Shanghai Wenguang became a new partner of China Football Association. They bought the right to broadcast the Super League for three years at a sky-high price of1.800 million yuan, and broadcast it on the sports channel of Oriental TV and Shanghai TV. In 2005, Shanghai Wenguang renewed its contract with the Super League twice to purchase the broadcasting rights, which is still in the contract period. Shanghai Wenguang's annual TV broadcasting fee is an important source of income for the Super League.
