What is triclosan?

[English name]: triclosan

[Chemical Name]: 2,4,4'-trichloro -2'- hydroxy diphenyl ether

[structural formula]:

[molecular formula]: C 12H7Cl3O2

[Molecular weight]: 289.5

[Features]:

1. Aromatic high-purity white powder, which does not pollute products and skin.

2. Soluble in various organic solvents and surfactants.

3. It has high stability to strong acid, strong alkali and heat.

4. It can kill and inhibit Gram-positive bacteria, fungi, yeasts and viruses (such as Class A and B, rabies virus and HIV HTV) that cause infection or disease.

5. No irritation to skin.

Antibiotics are as effective as non-antibiotics.

[Characteristics and quality indicators]:

1. Description: white crystalline powder, tasteless or slightly fragrant.

2. Solubility: slightly soluble in water, slightly soluble in dilute alkali, and dissolved in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone to make transparent concentrated solution products.

3. Quality indicators:

Content: 99.0- 100.0% (HPLC)

Melting point 57 1oC

Loss on drying < 0. 1%

Ash content < 0. 1%

Heavy metals (according to ph)

[Safety performance]:

Triclosan has good compatibility with human skin. A large number of long-term animal toxicology experiments have also proved that triclosan can meet the international standards of chemical toxicity in the recommended scope and dosage, and it is a safe and efficient broad-spectrum antibacterial agent that is respected internationally at present.

According to foreign literature, acute oral toxicity: LD50 (taken orally by mice) = 3800 mg/kg.

The State Product Supervision Bureau tested triclosan:

Acute oral toxicity: LD50 (taken orally by mice) = 3800 mg/kg. According to the toxicological acute toxicity grading standard, it belongs to low toxicity.

Stimulation experiment: 1%, 5% and 10% triclosan were evenly applied to the depilation parts of guinea pigs, covered and fixed with gauze for 6 days, and repeated on the seventh day and 13 days. The sensitization rate of triclosan was zero.

[Antibacterial properties]:

Triclosan is an efficient broad-spectrum antibacterial agent, which can kill and inhibit gram-positive bacteria, negative bacteria, yeasts and viruses.

The disease resistance of triclosan was tested, and its minimum inhibitory concentration was as follows: microbial MIC(PPm) microbial MIC(PPm)

Staphylococcus aureus 0.03 beta hemolytic streptococcus 4

Pneumococcus 5 Bacillus subtilis 0.3

Streptococcus-like bacteria 4 diphtheria bacteria 3

Micrococcus gracilis 5 Escherichia coli 0.2

Proteus 0.3 Haemophilus influenzae 25

Salmonella typhi A 0.4 Salmonella typhi B 0.3

Salmonella typhimurium 0.3 Shigella baumannii 0. 1

Pseudomonas aeruginosa 10000 Klebsiella pneumoniae 0.4

Aeromonas 3 Mycobacterium tuberculosis 100

[Application and scope]:

Triclosan is widely used in highly effective medicinal soap/sanitary soap, sanitary emulsion, foot odor-removing aerosol, hand sanitizer, wound disinfection spray, medical device disinfectant, sanitary facial cleanser/cream, air freshener, refrigerator deodorant, etc. It is also used for the finishing of sanitary fabrics and the anticorrosion and treatment of plastics. High purity triclosan is also widely used in toothpaste and mouthwash to treat dental inflammation, periodontitis and oral ulcer. The recommended concentration is 0.05.

"Storage": sealed and dry, stored away from light, and the storage temperature does not exceed 40℃
