The upper reservoir of Yixing Pumped Storage Power Station was built at the top of Tongguan Mountain. The main dam is a concrete face rockfill dam with a relative height of more than 60 meters and a length of more than 520 meters. With a storage capacity of more than 5.2 million cubic meters, the reservoir has become a man-made "tianhu" and is expected to become an important tourism resource. In addition, due to the factors of ecological restoration and environmental protection, the ecological condition of the mountain where the pumped storage power station is located is gradually recovering.

The static total investment of power station hub and reservoir inundation treatment project is 3.987 billion yuan, and the total investment is 4.763 billion yuan. East China Yixing Pumped Storage Co., Ltd. is established by State Grid Xinyuan Holding Co., Ltd., East China Power Grid Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Guo Xin Asset Management Group Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Electric Power Company and Yixing Asset Management Company with the contribution ratio of 40%, 20%, 15% and 5% respectively, and is responsible for the construction and operation of the power station. The registered capital of the company is 953 million yuan, and the remaining 80% of the total investment of the project is financed by loans from the World Bank (US$ 65.438+US$ 45 million for international procurement of mechanical and electrical equipment for power stations) and domestic banks.

Since the main project of the power station started in August 2003, four units of the power station have been put into commercial operation on May 1 day, July 2 1 day, September 19, June165438+1October 20, 2008, respectively. Nowadays, the power station is put into operation in the power grid, which is undoubtedly a timely help to Jiangsu Province with rapid economic development, increasing power demand and increasing power supply quality requirements. Through this million-unit pumped storage power station, the safety factor of Jiangsu power grid's safe and economic operation is further improved, which can further promote Jiangsu's economic development.

The installed capacity of peak-shaving and valley-filling power station is 1000MW, and the peak-valley difference of Jiangsu power grid can be reduced by about 2000MW through peak-shaving and valley-filling. The peak shaving capacity is about twice that of a single-cycle gas turbine or a two-shift start-stop generator set of the same scale. Due to the unique peak-shaving and valley-filling function of pumped storage power station, the coal consumption and equipment failure rate of coal-fired units can be improved when the power consumption of nuclear power units in the power grid is low, which is helpful to the stable and safe operation of nuclear power basic load.

The frequency modulation availability and startup success rate are high, the climbing and unloading speed is fast, the switching time of working conditions is short, and the operation mode is convenient and flexible. After completion, it will bring great convenience to the safe, reliable and economical dispatching of Jiangsu power grid. The climbing speed of coal-fired units is 1 ~ 2% of rated output 1 min. It takes several hours for the unit to start to full load, and it takes longer from cold start. It takes 7-8 minutes for a gas turbine to reach full load from standstill, so it is difficult to adapt to the rapid change of power grid load. However, the pumped storage power station only needs 1~2 minutes from static to full load operation, which can quickly track the change of system load, ensure the stability of power grid cycle and play the role of frequency modulation.

Phase modulation has the function of phase modulation, which can undertake the task of phase modulation in power grid, emit or absorb reactive power according to the needs of power grid, improve the qualified rate of power grid voltage, thus reducing the installation of reactive power compensation equipment in power grid and saving the investment and operation cost of system equipment.

At present, the rotating reserve capacity of Jiangsu power grid is mainly borne by coal-fired generator sets, which provide rotating reserve capacity for the power grid and often need to run at no-load or load, resulting in increased coal consumption and poor economy. The construction of Yishui Power Station can be used as an ideal backup power supply for Jiangsu power grid, even as a black-start power supply, which can replace coal-fired generating units to undertake the rotation backup and emergency backup of the power grid and save the no-load coal consumption of coal-fired generating units in the system. When there is an emergency in the power grid, it is of great significance for the safe and stable operation of the power grid to eliminate the impact of the accident and improve the reliability of power supply through the rapid start-up of the unit or the flexible conversion of operating conditions when the power storage capacity of the power station allows.

Power station construction has promoted local economic development and played an active role in building materials, employment, consumption and taxation.
