China was the first to extract lubricating oil from petroleum. According to tests, people in China discovered and began to use oil at least 3000 years ago. In Jin Dynasty (AD 265-420), Zhang Hua's book Natural History not only mentioned the "stone paint" in Yumen area of Gansu Province, but also pointed out that this kind of stone paint can be used as the "cream year" of lubricating oil.
