Messier was originally a French company that produced landing gear. In 70, it merged with another French company, Snecma, which produces aviation products. 1994 merged with TI group in British dowdy group to form messier-dowdy group. 1998, Snecma (that is, messier) achieved complete control of the group. In 2005, Snecma merged with Sachim Group to form Safran SA, but messier-Doughty, which produces landing gear, is still relatively independent.
Mesia's factory in Suzhou is the latest of its eight factories in the world (in 2003).
