What is a fairy share?

Shares with a unit price of less than one yuan are called fairy shares. The origin of this name comes from the Hong Kong stock market.

Why is it called "Xiangu"?

There are two reasons. First, before the reunification, Hong Kong was a British colony, and there was once a currency called shilling in Britain. One pound can be converted into twenty shillings, and when the fare of a stock falls below one Hong Kong dollar, it can be converted into several shillings. Since then, the "first share" has been known to Hong Kong investors and has evolved into "fairy shares" over time.

Secondly, the "pre-share" with low investment value is often regarded as a "wedding dress" for listing by some companies, and then the share price of this company jumps to a high level, and investors can earn a lot of money. Jumping thousands of feet high is equivalent to ascending to heaven, and the last "first share" is also called "fairy share"
