Pigeon summer feed formula:
1) pea 30%, corn 20%, barley 20%, mung bean 10%, hemp seed 10% (drink more water);
2) peas 30%, mung beans 30%, corn 20%, buckwheat 10%, hemp seed 10% (drink plenty of water);
Pigeon winter feed formula:
1) corn 40%, pea 20%, brown rice 10%, wheat 10%, sorghum 10%, hemp seed 10% (feed quantity increased);
2) Corn 40%, peas 30%, brown rice 10%, sorghum 10%, hemp seed 10% (increase feed);
3) Wheat 50%, corn 20%, pea 15%, brown rice 5%, mung bean 5%, peanut 5% (increase feed).
Feed management in molting period
During molting, racing pigeons must have more protein and minerals than usual to meet the extra demand of new feather growth. In order to make the new feathers smooth and elastic, we need to feed more lipid feed. The recommended empirical formula is as follows:
1) pea 30%, corn 20%, hemp seed 20%, sesame 10%, sunflower seed 10%, peanut 10% (the daily diet of each pigeon is increased by 5g);
2) corn 30%, brown rice 25%, pea 20%, wheat 10%, mung bean 10% and peanut 5%;
3) 30% peas, 30% hemp seeds, 0/0% rapeseed/kloc, 0/0% sunflower seeds, 0/0% corn/kloc and 0/0% brown rice/kloc.
The proportion of lipid feed in the above 1) and 3) formulas is as high as about 50%, which is mainly used in the late stage of vigorous molting. Once new feathers (especially flying feathers) are replaced, the proportion of lipid feed should be reduced in time, otherwise the quality of new feathers will be affected. I hope I can help you.
