Tang Xiangqian, chairman of Shanghai Meiwei Electronics Co., Ltd., a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu. 1923 was born in a textile family, studied in Shanghai in his early years, and then studied for a master's degree in economics at Manchester University in England and the University of Illinois in the United States. In the early 1950s, he started the textile industry in Hong Kong and founded dozens of enterprises. He has served as managing director of Hong Kong Nanlian Industrial Co., Ltd., chairman of Hong Kong Zhongnan Textile Co., Ltd., chairman of Hong Kong Peninsula Knitting Co., Ltd. and chairman of Asia-Africa Group Corporation. As early as the end of 1970s, before Tang led the reform and opening up in the Mainland, he took the lead in investing in Tianshan Wool Textile Co., Ltd., the first joint venture in Xinjiang, and Shanghai United Wool Textile Co., Ltd., the first joint venture in Shanghai, both of which were rated as the top ten joint ventures in China. In order to change the backward appearance of China's electronic industry, Tang Yu 1985 founded Meiwei Technology Group and served as its chairman. He successively set up more than ten modern factories in Hong Kong and the Mainland, including Dongfang Wire Industry Co., Ltd., Guangdong Technology Co., Ltd., Dongguan Electronics Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Meiwei Electronics Co., Ltd., and introduced the most advanced printed circuit boards, copper-clad laminate production equipment and testing equipment, which were recognized as high-tech. So far, Meiwei Technology Group has become a professional company that produces and sells printed circuit boards, copper clad laminates and other electronic materials. Relying on excellent quality and reputation, products are exported to Europe, America, Japan, Southeast Asia and other markets. Because of its contribution to the reform and construction in Shanghai and Dongguan, the people's governments of Shanghai and Dongguan respectively awarded him the honorary title of honorary citizen.
Tang cares about the prosperity and development of Hong Kong. He has served as Director-General of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Chairman of the Hong Kong Cotton Textile Industry Association, Chairman and Honorary President of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, Vice-President of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Advisor on Hong Kong Affairs, President of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Development Association, member of the Basic Law Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, member of the Preparatory Committee, member of the Sixth CPPCC National Committee, and member of the Standing Committee of the Seventh, Eighth and Ninth CPPCC National Committee. He was awarded the Justice of the Peace and the Golden Bauhinia Medal by the Hong Kong Government.
