Construction Background of Changjiu Intercity Railway

With the rapid development of Jiangxi's economy and society, high-speed railways began to be built. Take Nanchang-Jiujiang Line as an example: 33% of the province's population lives on this line, and the exchange of personnel and materials between the two places is very frequent. However, the serious congestion of the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, which is only 90 kilometers per hour, weakens Jiangxi's industrial competitiveness and makes the proportion of logistics cost in GDP higher than that of other provinces, which makes it even more necessary to solve the traffic bottleneck along the Changjiu Railway.

Compared with expressways and traditional double-track railways, high-speed railways are more efficient and can meet the needs of large-scale long-distance transportation. As far as transportation efficiency is concerned, the operation time, construction cost and line capacity of high-speed railway are 2 ~ 3 times that of expressway and traditional double-track railway.

As early as1May 1989, it was predicted that the passenger volume and container freight volume of the new line would increase by1/kloc-0 and 3.8 times respectively in 201.0995, and the Jiangxi provincial government made a major decision to build the Changjiu high-speed railway.
