Shang (Shangyu) San (Sanmen) Expressway connects Shangyu Guzhu with Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway in the north, Sanmen Gaojian Township in the south, Yong-Tai-Wen Expressway, Shangyu, Shengzhou, Xinchang, Tiantai and Sanmen, and Jinyong Expressway, running through the central and eastern Zhejiang, with a total length of142km, which is the main artery connecting Shaoxing and Taizhou.
With a total investment of 4.626 billion yuan, the expressway started construction on 1998, which lasted two years and ten months and was officially opened to traffic on February 26th, 2000.
There are many mountain tunnels along the expressway with a speed limit of 80 km/h.

The 3 1 toll station of Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo and Shangsan Expressway in Zhejiang Province has fully launched the UnionPay card payment system. It is understood that this is the first expressway in China. Drivers can use any bank credit card with UnionPay logo to pay tolls on these two expressways.
