Turkey develops electronic warfare unmanned boat

Turkey is developing an unmanned marlin boat with electronic warfare capability. Demir posted a message on social media that this is the world's first unmanned surface ship that can be used for electronic warfare and an important achievement in the development of Turkey's defense industry.

"Marin" unmanned boat was jointly built by Astero Sang Defense Company, the largest defense electronics company in Turkey, and Safin Shipyard in Turkey. It is reported that this type of unmanned coxswain 15 meters can carry missiles, electronic warfare equipment, intelligence collection systems and other equipment to perform tasks such as intelligence collection, surveillance, reconnaissance and asymmetric operations. The detailed performance of this type of unmanned boat has not been disclosed. The boat will be equipped with "SIRIT" 70mm laser-guided missile and Umtas anti-tank missile made in Turkey.

Turkey's military strength has always been great, but its strength is very weak. Turkey is eager to improve its national defense strength, and unmanned weapons and equipment have become its development focus. Turkey's unmanned equipment has a strong development momentum. Not only has our army replaced a large number of unmanned weapons, but it has also gradually entered the international market. As a new technical field, unmanned surface ship is the focus of research and development in Turkey. In February, 20021,the first Turkish-made armed unmanned boat "ulak" made a sea trial. It is reported that the boat has all-weather navigation capability and can be operated remotely from shore-based or offshore platforms to perform tasks such as reconnaissance, surveillance, intelligence and escort. In July, Turkish Astero Sang Defence Company and Safin Shipyard announced R&D plans for two unmanned boats, which will develop anti-submarine NB57 and anti-ship RD09 unmanned boats respectively.

According to the design scheme, these two unmanned boats have a speed of 40 knots and a range of 600 nautical miles. They can sail continuously for 4 days without replenishment and have a high degree of automation. They can sail independently according to the sea conditions and mission requirements, and are equipped with remote-controlled weapon stations. In addition, NB57 unmanned boat will be equipped with four light torpedoes, RD09 unmanned boat can be equipped with two tactical missile launchers, and can also be converted into a trimaran, carrying more weapons and systems to perform electronic warfare, anti-submarine warfare and mine warfare missions.

In addition, Turkey is also stepping up its research and practice of "unmanned bees at sea" tactics based on unmanned ships. In 20021year, Turkey dispatched four "Albatross" unmanned boats to practice how to avoid obstacles and attack predetermined targets at sea. In June, 2022, Turkey once again launched the "unmanned bee colony at sea" drill, and a command unmanned boat appeared in the lineup, indicating that Turkey's "unmanned bee colony at sea" is gradually moving towards the intelligent stage of autonomous control.
