Are there many Japanese-funded enterprises in Chengdu?

Lots and lots ...

I remember reading a piece of information. Chengdu has a permanent foreign population of about 25,000, with Americans being the largest, followed by Japanese. As early as 2006, there were more than 100 Japanese enterprises in Chengdu.

Companies such as Sony, Itochu Corporation, Kobe Steel, Toyota, etc. all attach great importance to the Chengdu market, and many Japanese companies have set their headquarters in the southwest or even the west of China.

All Nippon Airways also opened a direct flight route from Chengdu to Tokyo (the only direct flight route from Japan in the inland) to promote business and sightseeing exchanges and cooperation between Chengdu and Japan.

There are 126 Japanese companies participating in the Chengdu West Expo this year.
