In 2004, the production line of Toyota Teri in Taiwan Province Province was sold for financial reasons. Before Zotye, Geely and other car companies had paid attention to this production line, but because of the long decision-making process, they did not make a decision immediately.

In 2007, Zotye Automobile reorganized Jiangnan Automobile and obtained the "birth permit".
