Significance of the completion of Baling River suspension bridge in Guizhou

On May 18, 2009, the Baling River Bridge, a key project of Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, located at the junction of Zhenning and Guanling counties in Guizhou Province, held a dragon rowing ceremony. In the morning 1 1, the last steel truss girder of Baling River Bridge was hoisted smoothly. The planned length of the bridge construction is1564m, and the height from the bridge deck to the water surface is about 370m. Construction started on April 18, 2005. It is located in Guanling County, Guizhou Province, about 7 kilometers away from Huangguoshu Scenic Area. The construction unit Guizhou Expressway Development Corporation and Guizhou Bridge Company strive to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of this year.

After the completion of the bridge, the road from Huangguoshu Scenic Area to Guanling County will be greatly shortened, and the journey takes only 5 minutes. The bridge is connected with the majestic Huangguoshu Waterfall in the east, the ancient road of SOMA in the Three Kingdoms in the west, the mysterious Hongyan gobbledygook in the south and the Dishuitan Waterfall in the north. This is not only a new milestone in the history of bridge construction in Guizhou Province, but also a new starting point for the construction of 1,000-meter-long-span bridges in national alpine canyons, and will also become a landmark building in Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area. Bridge experts from Japan Changda Company who participated in the construction said that although there are bridges with larger spans in the world, it is the first time in the world that engineers in Guizhou can build such a difficult bridge in such a sinister geographical environment, and it is also their pride to participate in world-wide projects.
